Employee Mode vs CEO Mode

Where your attention goes, your energy flows.

Your most valuable resource isn't money.

Or even time.

It's attention.

(Or, if you prefer: your energy and engagement.)

As a business owner, there are almost an infinite number of things competing for your attention.

The challenge isn't finding more things to do.

It's deciding what deserves your attention.

That's the shift from employee mode to CEO mode.

Warren Buffett famously kept a list of his 25 most important priorities.

But he only ever worked on the top five.

To help business owners make this shift, I use a simple framework:

Vision → Priorities → Timetable

Be clear on your vision (or purpose).

Let your vision determine your priorities.

Then let your priorities determine your timetable.

Most business owners do the opposite.

They fill their calendar first...

Then wonder why they feel busy but don't make meaningful progress.

Your timetable should reflect your priorities.

And your priorities should reflect your vision.
